Starting today, you can upgrade your ArcGIS Pro to version 2.5. It is now available in English – if you use English in ArcGIS Pro, the application will notify you of the new version when you start it. ArcGIS Pro should then offer the update itself.

ArcGIS Notebooks

Laptops are now available directly in ArcGIS Pro. You can write Python code, analyze the data, and see the results right away. Standard libraries, ArcPy, ArcGIS API for Python, as well as NumPy and pandas are available. With laptops, you can automate your processes and share laptops with others on the portal.

Geodatabase replication

ArcGIS Pro includes tools for working with distributed geodatabases. You can create replicas, manage them, and sync changes. There is also a Manage Replicas window and a context menu on the geodatabase.

Color management and advanced offset printing options

In ArcGIS Pro, color management can be enabled using ICC color profiles, which helps, for example, work with colors in CMYK mode. It is also possible to define spot colors and set symbol overprint.

Geoprocessing and analysis

In this version of ArcGIS Pro you will find more than 80 new tools. Among the most interesting are for example Create Space Time Cube from Multidimensional Raster Layer or Colocation Analysis.

Running geoprocessing tools can be scheduled for a certain time, or even run at regular intervals. Exporting models to Python is also improved.

In graphs in ArcGIS Pro (with axes) it is possible to zoom in on any viewport and move it in the graph.

Cartodiagrams

For point, line and polygon elements, you can turn on representation of attribute data in the form of a graph. Pie, bar and stacked charts are available.

Work with map and visualization

You can use the Find and Replace tool (Ctrl + F) in the attribute table. You can also freeze the selected columns so that they will still be visible in the table as you move the view.

You can use image attachments and enhanced style options in reports.

The cartographic display of Adams Square II can be set up in the form of a so-called Spilhaus map, which in an unconventional way shows the oceans as a uniform surface.

When working with annotations, you can use more features to better position and move them.

Match Layer Symbology To A Style helps you set symbols for unique values faster – we specify an attribute field with category names in the tool. The tool searches a specific style and assigns symbols that are named the same to each category.

In the map and in the scene, it is possible to use a new Camera properties window, which allows you to set precise values of the camera position, eventually its height, inclination and orientation for the 3D scene.

It is possible to use drawing files as templates for map compositions. If you place these templates in one directory, they can automatically appear in the menu for inserting a new drawing.

It is also possible to modify the positions of individual vertexes of map frames or text and graphics frames in the drawing. You can create more complex shapes.

You can also print and export to PDF in the background.

The first steps to get started with ArcGIS Pro are to download, install and authorize the application. Optionally, you can also download the offline help installation or language packs that allow you to run ArcGIS Pro in the language of your choice.

If you do not have access to a licensed copy of ArcGIS Pro, you can sign in for a free trial of ArcGIS.

Download ArcGIS Pro

You can download ArcGIS Pro and any optional configuration from My Esri. You can access a list of available downloads by going to the My Organizations tab and clicking Downloads.
Note

To download, your Esri account must be connected to your organization with the appropriate permissions. If you do not have the appropriate permissions, the download option will not be available. On the My Esri organizations tab, click Request permissions from your organization, which will tell your administrator to connect your Esri account to your organization.

ArcGIS Pro (required): download from My Esri to get the main ArcGIS Pro application.

Offline help (optional): download from My Esri to access ArcGIS Pro’s offline help (local help files).

By default, ArcGIS Pro connects to an online help system and displays it. If you are going to work in a disconnected environment, install the local help files.

Install

ArcGIS Pro can be installed as a per-team or per-user installation. One installation per computer allows all users to use ArcGIS Pro. One installation per user allows only the installer to use ArcGIS Pro. The default installation locations for each option are found in Installing ArcGIS Pro automatically with command line parameters in INSTALLDIR. The following steps reflect one installation per computer.

You must install ArcGIS Pro before installing other optional configurations.

Note: In order to install ArcGIS Pro for each user on compatible Windows Server operating systems, the registry key HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\Installer must include the REG_DWORD DisableMSI data type, with the value 0. For more information, see the MSDN DisableMSI topic.

Review the ArcGIS Pro system requirements to check the system requirements and other requirements related to the environment.

Start the ArcGIS Pro installation program and click Next when you are ready to continue.

Review the license agreement and accept it if you agree. Click Next to continue the installation. If you do not accept the terms of the program, you must exit the program.

Select the installation context in which ArcGIS Pro will be installed, either per computer (all users) or per user. By default, the option per machine is selected. Click Next to continue. Note: If the user running the installation does not have administrative privileges, one instance of ArcGIS Pro per machine cannot be installed.

Click Change to specify the installation folder or click Next to accept the default location of C:\Program Files\ArcGIS\Pro\. If you change the installation folder, neither ArcGIS nor Pro will be added to the modified path. It is recommended that the selected custom installation location include a folder rather than the root location of a drive.

Click Install to begin the installation. Note that the Esri User Experience Improvement check box is selected by default.

Click Finish to close the wizard when the installation is complete. If you want to start the application immediately, leave the Run ArcGIS Pro now check box selected.

If desired, install ArcGIS Pro offline help by going to your installation folder and running the ArcGISProHelp.msi file.

Authorize

After downloading and installing ArcGIS Pro, you must have an authorized license to start using the application.

If you have an ArcGIS Online or ArcGIS Enterprise account, you can start ArcGIS Pro with a named user license. If your credentials do not work, please contact your administrator. You may not have any license assigned to you, or you may need to authorize a Single Use or Concurrent Use license instead of a Named User license.

If you are an administrator, the steps to authorize licenses depend on the type of license you are using. By default, ArcGIS Pro uses Named User licenses, but you also have the option of converting them to Single Use or Concurrent Use licensing.
